New Growth

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!  2 Corinthians 5:17 NIV

When you reach a place of forgiveness, you become an ex-victim. You become whole again. I thought he brought the destruction of our family, but I was wrong. He did not destroy us. We are ex-victims now. I feel alive again, all because of Jesus in me. (an excerpt from my journal, 7/9/19)

The other day I dropped my daughter off at school and proceeded to go run my errands. As I drove past a familiar church, I recognized the pastor’s car parked by the church office, so I decided right at that moment to take a detour and say hello. It had been a year since we last visited and I missed our conversations.

He filled me in on what had been happening in his life and I gave him a summary of my last year, as well. As we shared, he gently nodded his head and his eyes stayed focused on mine with no distractions. 

“So you took the negative and turned it into a positive,” he said. I kind of teared up, just feeling so grateful for his support and for the way God is bringing  beauty from ashes in my life. At that moment I realized how much I had grown in my relationship with the Lord from what I’ve been through.  

I saw new growth in me, and that is what I’m praying for each of you reading this post.  For you to see new growth! To keep seeking the Lord and all His righteousness, no matter what life brings and to experience his abounding love, so you will also experience new growth. Ask Him to grow you. He is faithful, and He will do it. Press on, sweet beloved child of God!
