Here’s an easy project that knits up quick and makes a sweet little thoughtful gift for the writers and readers in your life! The pattern is simple to memorize- only two rows, repeated over and over. Take a look!
Fingering weight yarn, (variegated looks best)
knitting needles, size 2
Cast on 10 stitches with long-tail cast on.
Row 1 (wrong side): purl 1, slip 1 (with yarn in back). Repeat this pattern for all 10 stitches, to the end of the row.
Row 2 (right side): knit 1, slip 1 (with yarn in front). Repeat this pattern for all 10 stitches, to the end of the row.
Repeat rows 1 and 2 until you reach a desired length (usually a bookmark is approximately 8-9 inches or so).
Bind off all 10 stitches.
To keep the bookmark from curling and to make it lie flat properly, wash it in warm water with a neutral pH balanced soap. Squeeze moisture out with a towel. Block to dimensions 9″ x 1″ (Finishing size may vary due to how tight or loose one knits.) There you go!
