God is Good- All the Time

Some days our lives are going well. We feel like we’re on a clear path where everything’s going according to plan, giving us hopefulness.

Why is it when someone asks how we’re doing (when everything’s going well) we are often quick to say “God is good.” or “God is faithful.”? If we’re in a place of trauma, confusion, or depression, those words don’t come to mind so quickly, right?

Has God stopped being good or faithful? Has his character changed? Is he only a good God if our lives are happy or prosperous?

After speaking with a friend who’s presently in a storm, I could see her strength and courage.

I know she probably wouldn’t describe herself as strong or courageous- in reality perhaps she was feeling scared, weak and helpless. But in the midst of her pain, she still trusts God. The God who is unchanging- who is always good, all the time

We question why God allows things- bad stuff- to happen, yet even in the bad stuff, he remains faithful. Nothing (even the bad stuff!) can separate us from his love.

As surely as the sun rises, he’s there for us. And he promises us he will remain faithful to us.

The next time we experience crisis, let’s remember God‘s character, which never changes. He knows our pain and he knows what’s best. If he cares about little sparrows, we can rest assured he’s caring for us as well. What a good faithful God we serve! His love is unending and his character never changes.

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”  Romans 15:13 NIV
