No Hurry!

Ever since covid began, most of us have had to slow down, not by our own choice, but by compliance. We may have hoped that by now things would be somewhat back to normal, but instead, the numbers keep rising.

Experiencing more family time and slowing down may have been a blessing for you, but if you’re like me, kind of feeling sad- missing the other relationships in our lives. Maybe we’re impatient and ready for normal activities to resume, but before they do, it may be a good idea to reset thinking with this must-read book.

If you’re finding a need or desire to change things when everything does eventually get back to normal, and don’t want to fall back into the hurry and hustle you experienced prior to Covid-19, check out this book.

I’ve already posted about The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry by John Mark Comer on social media, but I thought I’d address it here as well, since it has been such a blessing to me! It addresses what it means to be an apprentice of Jesus.

Although I read it several months ago, it seems that lately it’s been making a re-appearance due to the subject matter in the midst of this pandemic. Annie F. Downs has been promoting it, as well as others. But no wonder! It’s so good!

If you’re one who still feels weary, over-burdened, or over-committed, it may provide you with a new perspective.

Mr. Comer, a once mega-church pastor, made some drastic life changes to stay emotionally healthy and spiritually alive. He provides four down-to-earth practices that clearly benefit those who choose to follow Jesus.

They are:

  1. Silence and Solitude
  2. Sabbath
  3. Simplicity
  4. Slowing

Each practice is discussed in detail – and I was eating up every word. Good thing I had this book on Audible because an actual physical copy would have used up all my highlighter ink. If your soul is craving REST instead of HURRY, get your copy soon!
