Living Hope

In front of my Bible is a page for births, deaths, and special events. Strangely, I hadn’t remembered seeing this before, and obviously never filled it in- even though I owned this Bible long before a wedding was in sight.

Did God know it would cause me grief if I had completed it? Having to put an X over it, like crossing days off my calendar? Even now, the empty page has me tearful.

Two becoming one flesh. How it was designed from the beginning.

Years have passed. Twenty-two anniversaries gone. Sometimes it doesn’t work out in ways we hope for. And yet, whether or not a marriage survives, there is healing and HOPE available. A living hope.

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.” 1Peter 1:3 NIV
