Only Jesus

Each Christmas my olive wood nativity is displayed on my living room coffee table. 

Finding it on an Israel visit, this souvenir soon came to be my favorite treasured decoration. 

As I pull each figurine from the box, I gently set them just so, each positioned to focus eyes directly at baby Jesus.

Why the careful attention to this detail? As a reminder. 

All we need to focus on is Jesus—not the sparkly lights, fancy food, or glamorous gifts—nor stockings hung on the chimney with care. 

Only Jesus.
