The Earth Trembles

Ever seen the aftermath of an earthquake? I went to San Francisco shortly after the 1989 Loma Prieta and the devastation was unbelievable.

So when I was reading in Proverbs and the writer mentioned the earth trembling, I immediately thought about what I’d seen in California.

Proverbs 30:21 “Under three things the earth trembles,” (and one of the 3 gets mentioned in vs. 23): “an unloved woman who is married.”

Maybe because of the devastation that follows?

Friend, if you happen to be the unloved woman who is married, remember, God sees. He knows. He takes notice and remembers.

If you’ve experienced trauma from a betrayal, you may be feeling unloved or rejected, but God says:

“Never! Can a mother forget her nursing child? Can she feel no love for the child she has born? But even if that were possible, I would not forget you.” Isaiah 49:15 NLT

“And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God‘s love. Neither death nor life,  neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today, nor our worries about tomorrow- not even the powers of hell can separate us from God‘s love.” Romans 8:38 NLT

It’s hard. Sometimes we feel as though God has forgotten us, too. It’s normal and OK to feel this, but don’t stay there. Remember God IS who he says He is: faithful, true, and even if it were possible, he could still not forget you.

  1. Being an unloved wife for so many years before my husband’s death has left me with this empty worthless feeling. The last thing I want is another relationship but ….Do I need that to validate that I am love worthy?

    1. Of course not! You are already loved, valuable, and accepted. Another relationship does not confirm that, nor would it love be guaranteed in a new relationship. We need to recognize we are worthy, loved, AND worthy of love because we belong to Jesus. Period. We get our worth from HIM ALONE.
