Steps Towards Trusting

How light do you travel?

When I head out on a trip, I always have my credit card and extra cash for “just in case”.

Wanting choices, I usually pack more clothes than necessary. Having worked for the Boy Scouts, I also like to “Be Prepared” for anything.

Yet when Jesus sent out the 12 disciples, (Matthew 10:9-10 NIV) He said, “Do not take along any gold or silver or copper in your belts; take no bag for the journey, or extra tunic, or sandals or a staff; for the worker is worth his keep.” (In other words, take nothing.)

Nowadays, we wouldn’t think of going on extended journeys without provisions, yet as commanded, the disciples were to solely rely on God’s provision as they set out to minister.

Perhaps in today’s culture, we wouldn’t get very far without our necessities, but could we mentally travel life‘s journey—relying alone on God‘s provision?

Jesus, the Resurrection and the Life, helps us get through WHATEVER we face. Whatever steps we need to take.

Whether it be betrayal, physical or mental health issues, employment and financial challenges, or death of a loved one. Just name it.

I’ve said it before and will continue to believe it: It always boils down to TRUST.

So what can you do to take a step towards trusting Jesus, today?
