On a Wild Goose Chase?

Wild goose chase: A foolish and hopeless pursuit of something unattainable.

After years of trying to make a marriage work, it turned out I was on a wild goose chase. But I learned some things over those years: I was not the cause. I couldn’t control him. I couldn’t cure him. I could choose my own healing.

As Christians we pour our hearts and souls into our marriages because we made a covenant and we are determined to honor it—no matter what.

But is there a time to stop our attempts and move on?

What we quite often forget is that it takes two. As much as we try, we can’t force someone into remaining faithful or loving us. Each person is responsible for their own choices.

When we choose healthy detachment and release outcomes to God, He provides clarity for our next steps.

Remember: God loves and honors people above marriages—and our relationship with Him above all.

He protects, provides, and is faithful to guide us into making decisions. When we know the Good Shepherd, we hear His voice.

“My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.” John 10:27

Success in life is not determined by whether or not our marriage survives, but by walking with Jesus and listening to His voice.
