Memorial Stones

Women have a knack for remembering dates. As one who has experienced trauma from betrayal, I know I do, and I’m pretty sure others know and remember the exact date of discovering your own husband‘s betrayal. It’s something we never forget.

In a recent prayer gathering I attended, we discussed not letting our pasts dictate our futures, because our past does not define us. It prompted me to dig deeper.

We naturally keep “memorial stones” about positive AND negative events from our past. We have a choice about what we allow our minds to dwell on, so what if we looked at the negative events with a new perspective?

Do we give the enemy power when we continue to cling to our hurts? Does he use it as a distraction from being able to realize God’s power in our lives? Is it his tool—his crafty intention—to keep reminding us of a painful past so we forget our future is full of hope and promise?

Here’s the challenge: Let’s look at our D-days as memorial stones showing WHO God is. Let’s believe God will use our D-day as a way for him to reveal his power. Let’s refuse to agree with the enemy!

Let’s claim, stand on, and receive His TRUTH, acknowledging our biblical foundation by trusting Him—walking forward in UNWAVERING FAITH and UNFLINCHING ENDURANCE.

His Word confirms we are strong when we wait on Him.

Anybody ready to claim His power already at work within us? (Ephesians 3:20)

“ I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms.” Ephesians 1:18-20NIV

  1. I love these verses in Ephesians & reading your devotion prompted me to challenge myself to memorize to pray. Thank you for this “enlightened” perspective❤️

  2. We women do have a “gift” for remembering things. (My husband told me once that I had a memory like a steel trap. I’m not sure that was a compliment. :/ ) I pray every day that I will remember what I ought to remember and forget what’s better forgotten. I think God’s answering that prayer, because I’m a much happier person than I used to be. 🙂
