God’s Protection

“The Lord your God, who goes before you looking for the best places to camp, guiding you with a pillar of fire by night and a pillar of cloud by day.” Deuteronomy 1:33 NLT

This is how Israelites traveled during exodus from Egypt. Can you imagine? They didn’t know where they were going, but God used a pillar of fire by night and a cloud by day to guide and protect them.

On a recent walk, the sky was filled with billowing clouds. The sun was hot and out, but the clouds provided shade.

I was wondering what Israelites used for sunscreen. Having God’s protective shade, perhaps they had no need for any?

When I think about God‘s protection, I visualize a shield, only the shield surrounds us on all sides—including top and bottom. It’s like the bubble from the Incredibles movie, where nothing penetrates the protective layer.

This protection is available to everyone, however it is conditional. To receive it, one must know the Protector. Are you protected?

“But you, O Lord, are a shield about me; my glory, and the lifter of my head.” Psalm 3:3 ESV
