Lift Your Gaze

“On that day the Lord will shield those who live in Jerusalem, so that the feeblest among them will be like David.” Zechariah 12:8

Feeling feeble? Conditions—whether it be world crises or our own traumas from betrayal—cause us to feel helpless, hopeless, and powerless. Even so, God gives us promises and guarantees his strength will fill us with joy, hope, and peace!

The people in Zechariah’s time felt discouraged, too. They were in desperate need of some inspiration and encouragement.

When threats and trouble confront us, worries and dangers consuming our thoughts, we may feel like we cannot nor want to go on.

What God reminds us to do is to take our eyes off our circumstances and to lift up our gaze to the one who offers help.

“Then the clans of Judah will say in their hearts, The people of Jerusalem are strong, because the Lord Almighty is their God.’”

Zechariah 12:5 NIV

When we do this simple step of obedience, we can continue to walk on in faith, knowing He has us. Weakness wanes, feebleness flees. We can take heart, once again.
