In a recent message, my pastor spoke on peripety.

Some of my writer friends may be familiar with this term: a plot twist.

He could have just said plot twist, but don’t you just love the word, peripety?

(Pronounced purr-ip-it-ee.)

Sometimes, as our stories unfold, we get impatient. We rush ahead, taking things into our own hands— instead of God’s hands.

Jesus promises strength to endure the unendurable. So wouldn’t it be better to wait, just as Esther did (maybe even pray and fast) on our peripety?

Remember how her story unfolded?

Let’s wait and see all the bright and beautiful God has for us. Let’s wait…

on our peripety!
