What People Need Most

I heard a “specialist” speak about healing from addiction. Jesus was not in the equation.

He mentioned sex addiction support groups, similar to alcoholics anonymous. He mentioned therapy sessions with certified sex addiction therapists, such as himself. He mentioned the dreadfully long process it takes to change, and how all addiction is trauma based.

What he failed to mention was that with all the help available—all these 12 step behavioral change methods—all the intensive therapy sessions and processes needed for healing—without Jesus, what remains is still a lost soul.

Without courage to trust Jesus’ healing power, one is still hopeless and lost.

“Do you want to get well?” Jesus asked the man who had been paralyzed for 38 years.

True healing—healing that counts for eternity—isn’t going to happen if Jesus isn’t around.

Dear God,

Open the eyes of the blind and the hearts of the hurting, that they would receive courage to see you, know you, and believe in you—what matters most.

Amen.
