In 2011, I joined a wives care support group. Part of our meeting included reciting the Serenity Prayer.
It always caused distress for me, and sometimes it still does- because it’s all about giving God control, releasing our grip on everything we are grasping too tightly.
Accepting what we cannot change?
It’s hard.
Courage to change the things I can?
That’s hard, too.
Wisdom to know the difference?
Yes, please, Lord.
God, grant me serenity.
With your help, I can do this. Amen.
I love this prayer! Especially the 2nd part…which no one ever talks about, lol! I’ve been thinking about it a lot lately…especially the part that says accepting hardship as the pathway to peace. Lots to unpack there!! I have meditated on this prayer a lot as the wife of a man with bipolar disorder. It is perfect for wives! Thanks for sharing! ❤

Thank you for stopping by to read! Accepting hardship as the pathway to peace takes a lot of work, but thankfully Jesus gives us all we need and helps us along our journey to joy. I appreciate your comment and I hope this prayer continues to bless you, Kimberly.
