An online support group for writers (called hope*writers) posted an Instagram challenge with seven words as prompts- to write consistently for seven days.
I wanted to participate, but felt as though it may be a distraction from the other writing I wanted to do. As it turned out, these prompts were blessings in disguise, kickstarts to get me writing again. Here’s a post I wrote with the word DREAM as a prompt.

An adventure awaits…
It’s ok to dream big. Know why? We have a BIG God!
Most people may say a dream is just that- a dream- not reality, but I disagree. We serve a mighty God! Is God’s arm too short? Of course not! Doesn’t He give us a million promises in His word that He will help, strengthen, and uphold us? Why would we want to put limits on an almighty God, when He holds the power to fulfill our dreams?
God delights in giving us the desires of our hearts when it’s in accordance with his will. He tells us, “Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.” Psalms 37:4 NIV
He already knows our hearts, so when we pray according to His will, it will be done. (After all, He doesn’t give stones to His children who ask for bread, right?)
Most of the time dreams remain dreams- not reality, because we become fearful in the pursuit. We may justify or make excuses about why our dreams will never come true. (We also need to consider what our motives are behind our dreams.) But guess what?
“Perfect love drives out fear.” 1 John 4:18 NIV
Alli Worthington says, “When we are facing adversity at every turn, it’s easy to push down our dreams. It’s easy to store our calling in the back of the closet for another time. It’s easy to listen to the voices that tell us we can’t. Don’t focus on the reasons you can’t. Focus on the God who can.”
What it all boils down to is loving and trusting our Heavenly Father- believing in His perfect plan for our lives. Doesn’t it always go back to trust? Trusting God to know what’s best for us, fulfilling our dreams according to His will and in His timing, not ours.
When we pursue a dream, God unveils His- and our- purpose. An exciting adventure awaits! When dreams come true, honoring and glorifying God is our only response. He loves and delights in giving us gifts! So never give up- trust that pursuing your dreams (with Christ as your focus) can make them come true! We can rest in His perfect plan, whatever the outcome.
This is awesome Debra! 🙂

Amen Sister!
It’s so easy to get caught up in the reality of what must be done , that I forget to focus on the Amazingness of what God has done ,..and dream into the future of what he can do AGAIN! He is worthy of all our praise and can be trusted with our dreams!

I mean every word… This poem from another blogger has helped me a lot lately https://wp.me/pbq8J1-Jy
The main lesson God has been teaching me lately – the biggest lesson – is that he’s got me. No matter what. And no matter whats happened to me or how I feel… He can use it. Whether I mess up or others mess up. He can use it. I’m sorry you went thru what you went thru… Sin won’t stop any time soon and others will go through similar. As I am now. As I am heartbroken now…

One thing we can be sure of: The Lord, our God, goes with us. He will never leave us nor forsake us. (Or betray us!) Deuteronomy 31:6

I am so sorry for what you are going through. Your suffering is not wasted. You’re right—God uses it for good and works behind the scenes. We need to trust Him, which is hard, but He alone is trustworthy. I love the poem you shared. Thank you.
